Fall 2006 Meeting September 16
Meeting was called to order at 9:30 a.m. by District 15 president, Joe Bergquist
Roll Call showing the following associations present: Alexandria , Benson, Brainerd, CIA, Detroit Lakes , Fergus Falls , Little Falls, Long Prairie, Moorhead , Morris, Park Rapids, Pequot Lakes , Sauk Centre , Wadena, Walker/Leech Lake
Introductions were made
Approval of Minutes of Winter Meeting, motion by Little Falls, second by Sauk Centre . Motion carried
District Director Report – Dave Stigen reported ND & SD are moving to the Rocky region of USA Hockey. The New Standard of Play video, use of stick for other than playing the puck, the rule has always been in play but will be enforced this season.
Screening forms must be completed in full and submitted immediantly.
Rosters must be signed in BLUE INK.
Helmets are required (and must be snapped).

Fair play points are only awarded if the game is actually played
There appeared to be no interest in a C league discussion for 07-08 season at this time.
The District will be setting us the Bantam B2 and PW B2 regional, MN hockey will not be hosting.
The meeting shifted to MN Hockey presentations:
Mark Jorgensen about free website offer and the Schwan's fundraising offer
Audit committee spoke to advise about the services they offer associations
Dennis Green, president of MN Hockey also spoke briefly
HEP update sheet was also handed out
Tournament discussion was held motion by Brainerd, for the Bantam A and the PW A tournament the league champion gets the 2 nd seed and automatic birth to the Regional and the District champion is the #1 seed at the Regional. Moorhead seconded the motion.
The vote was on a roll call 9 votes no and 6 votes yes. Motion does not carry.
Bantam A and PWA continue playing through the district as usual.
Tournament motion by Moorhead that the Bantam A and the PW A be a double elimination District Tournaments, Brainerd seconded the motion.
The vote was a roll call vote 14 yes votes and 1 no vote. Motion carries.
District Director advised the district tournament must still be completed in two days.
Discussion on standardizing the trophies for District tournaments, no agreement was reached. Each host will purchase their own trophies.
District tournament, motion by Sauk Centre , to have the District pay $100 per game for level B District tournament host, second by Morris.
Motion carries.
Motion by Benson to have the District pay $150 per game for level A District host. Motion dies for lack of a second.
District President Bergquist asked if any association was interested in a District Squirt Tournament. No interest was shown

Tournaments – Paul Watzke handed out the packets for the tournaments. Each association was given enough forms for the same number of tournaments they hosted last year plus one. This year the application is blue and the instructions for completing are on pages 36-39 of the 2006-2007 Handbook.
January 15, 2007 is the final tournament filing date.
If you have an out of state team in your tournament it is an additional $25 fee.
Jamborees must be approved and the cost is for the ice time only.
Referees – Howard Breitkreutz There are currently 4 seminars set up. Need to bring helmets, skates and a whistle, would like attendees to pre-register, can go on MHOA. No rule changes, the stick rule will be enforced (see standard of play video)

If there is a complaint must have the original score sheet, give the ref the chance to complete and do their job.

Coaching – Dennis Bushy Requested an association to host a coaching clinic in October.
Oct 20, 21 & 22 in Morris @ LCC for Level 1, 2, & 3
Nov 17, 18 & 19 in Brainerd for Level 1, 2, & 3
Rosters will not be signed unless coaches screening forms are sent in prior. Discussion on a mandatory coaches meeting, refs are required to go to a meeting every year but coaches only have to go every three years.
Motion by Little Falls to require a mandatory coaches meeting, coach from the roster must bring the signed roster for sign-off and meeting, second by Morris.
Motion carries.

There will be a $25 penalty after December 1, 2006
President Bergquist requested associations to e-mail him with their association meeting dates. He would like to meet with associations to find out concerns and get to know all associations.
Elections
Girls Director Motion by Fergus Falls , second by Sauk Centre to appoint Mark Magnusson ( Alexandria ). Motion carries to appoint Mark Magnusson ( Alexandria ) to fill existing term (1 year)
Secretary Motion by Brainerd, second by Sauk Centre to nominate Juanita Staples (Morris) to the 2 year term. Motion carries to elect Juanita Staples (Morris) to the 2 year term as secretary.
Treasurer Motion by Sauk Centre , second by Long Prairie to nominate Debbie Girtz Holthaus (Little Falls) to the 2 year term. Motion carries to elect Debbie Girtz Holthaus (Little Falls) to the 2 year term.
Coaching Motion by Brainerd, second by Little Falls to nominate Dennis Bushy ( Moorhead ) to the 2 year term. Motion carries to elect Dennis Bushy ( Moorhead ) to the 2 year term.
