District 15 Summer Meeting

May 23, 2007

Arrowwood, Alexandria, MN

 

Meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by District 15 President, Joe Bergquist

Introductions were done Joe Bergquist, Juanita Staples, Debbie Holthaus, Mark Magnusson, Dave Stigen

Roll Call showing the following associations present:  Alexandria, Benson, Brainerd,      

            Fergus Falls, Morris, Pequot Lakes, Wadena

Approval of Minutes of Winter Meeting, motion by Alexandria, second by Fergus Falls,             Motion carried to approve

Approval of Treasurer’s report, attached balance $3,108.29.  Discussion was held on a

            Select 15 check, second year in a row that the skater’s parents had the payment stopped because skater didn’t make the team. 

            Motion by Fergus Falls, second by Wadena, Motion carried to approve

Season 2006 – 2007 in Review

  1. Standards of  Play, discussion that the intentions were good but as the season proceed there was not follow through.
  2. Scheduling / Coaching issues, situation with a Wadena coach which was similar to a Fergus Falls coach.  The Fergus Falls coach situation was resolved faster.  Time frames should be the same.  Advised to go to Howard Breitkruetz first to resolve issue and then to Dave Stigen
  3. Referee issues, one from a coach from the cities, Brainerd will work at putting together some standards for refs
  4. Parent & Fan issues none noted
  5. League issues, would like to see more A teams.  Should the team be an A team if only one team?  Should the District mandate all teams that have Bantams to go A?  Mark Magnusson feels we should keep the Girls 12U at the A level

Requested suggestions for changes to the  by-laws be gotten to Joe Bergquist

Background checks for all associations should be gotten to Dave Stigen, forms are on the

            MN Hockey website

Meet for Fall Meeting 2007 in Alexandria Sept 22, 2007 one week following the MN

            Hockey state meeting

Dave Stigen talked about coaching clinic in Moorhead, should district pay for instructor?

Winter 2008 meeting will meet Monday before District tournaments

Coaches & Referee Clinics

            West Coaches Clinic – Alexandria Level 1,2,3 on Oct 5,6,7, 2007

            East Coaches Clinic – Brainerd Level 2 & 3 on Dec 1,2, 2007

            Referee Clinic Wadena will contact Howard Breitkruetz if date is still available

There will be a mandatory sign off on rosters no dates set

Board positions open for Fall Meeting President (Joe Bergquist), Tournaments (Paul

            Watzke), Girls (Mark Magnusson), Officials (Howard Breitkruetz)

Discussion on Budget items – none presented

Spring 2008 League contact Joe Bergquist if you keep your ice on until April 1

Fall Jamborees, with district teams in November, Joe Bergquist will organize

 

 

Tournament Hosting Associations for District 3 teams advance to Regionals (pg 40)

            Jr Gold A – Moorhead

            PW A – Brainerd

            PW B – Wadena

Fergus Falls would like to host a district squirt hockey tournament if the district decides

            to put one together

Wadena requested info from other associations on their rental policies and charges

Website District 5 & 11 are utilizing Puck Master, cost $780 / year

Cindy Kunde has accepted the Registrar position for District 15 & District 16
