Reminder:
Shin Guards Are Mandatory For all
practices and games. MYS requires players to wear shin guards. This
is for the player's safety and is in line with Law 4 of FIFA/USYS rules
which require shin guards as part of the
players equipment. Collecting
Used Equipment For A Good Cause The weather is
getting colder, the leaves are starting to fall, and the soccer
season is almost over. Now is the perfect time for you
to help underprivileged children in Africa. MYS will be hosting
a soccer cleat, uniform, and ball collection in support of The TRIAD
Trust's next trip to South Africa in late November. The TRIAD
Trust assists kids living in areas hard-hit by HIV/AIDS in southern
Africa. By donating your used cleats and athletic equipment (shin
guards, balls) you will be helping orphans and vulnerable children to
participate in fun, sports-based health education programs.
If any teams
have a complete set of team uniforms they would like to donate TRIAD will
accept these, too. The uniforms must be in a set as they will be
given to newly formed teams whose coaches and members have participated in
innovative HIV education programs. If not now, please keep this in
mind for the end of your team's spring season. MYS
will host the collection the weekend of November 15-16 at LP2 or
Spring Hill Recreation Center. Please consider donating any outgrown
or extra soccer cleats, shin guards, or soccer balls. If you have
questions or need to make other arrangements to make a donation, please
contact Maureen Dalbec at vicechair@mcleansoccer.org.
Injury
Prevention Clinic
As part of our continuing coach education process, McLean Youth Soccer
invites all MYS SFL and Travel Coaches to attend an "Injury Prevention
Workshop" conducted by the team physicians and staff from the Washington
Redskins and the DC United. The workshop will be held on Saturday,
November 15th from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at the McLean
Community Center. The workshop will focus on educating coaches about
injury prevention techniques and training methods for your players.
All interested coaches, please RSVP to traveladmin@mcleansoccer.org by
November 10th." Congratulations

Columbus Day
Tournament Results: Big Weekend for U-9 All
three McLean 96B Fire teams reached their championship games at the Beach
FC Columbus Day tournament in Virginia Beach. The Green team capped an
unbeaten and untied weekend with a 3-0 victory over the Severna Park
Fever. Overall, the Green team outscored its opponents 22-4, including two
clean sheets in the final two games. The White Team was also undefeated
heading into a championship game that saw them battle to a 2-2 draw at the
end of regulation against a PWSI Courage team. The game proceeded through
two scoreless overtimes and was decided in PKs, with the White team
putting more in the net than their opponents. Unfortunately, a strong
Stafford Strikers team prevented the Gold team from making it a complete
McLean age group sweep. Thanks to all the coaches, parents and siblings
for their support this weekend.
